Q. What products and services are offered by Folio?
A. Researchers’ needs are broad, and so are Folio’s offerings. Our in-house, FFPE Biobank (6 million plus specimen strong) is a searchable, ever-growing collection of virtually all disease indications. There are limited amounts of frozen tissue and blood/biofluids banked as well. Our vast custom procurement services can supply difficult and/or extensive tissue requests for human or animal tissue. We also offer the highest-quality tissue microarrays in the business. Our CLIA certified laboratory can perform custom sectioning and TMA manufacturing of human or animal tissue.
Q. What is a CLIA Certification?
A. Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), is a certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The certification is to ensure quality laboratory testing performed on human specimen.
Q. Where do the tissues from the Biobank come from?
A. All of the tissues in our Biobank come from hospitals and clinics in the U.S. However, we do have international clinic partners that can be access racially diverse cohorts when necessary.
Q. Are your products Guaranteed?
A. Yes. We guarantee that the tissue we send meets the pathological, physical and histological characteristics highlighted as important in advance by the client. If there is a discrepancy, we will replace the tissue at our cost. However, we do not guarantee results in extraction-based assays trying to detect various markers.
We have a shared-risk policy for these projects – please inquire.
Q. Can you collect samples from donors with specific disease states such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, etc?
A. Generally, yes, for most indications. Our network of clinical partners is extensive, and we are adept at establishing new ones as unique patient populations are desired that we may not currently have access to.
Q. I have a difficult tissue request, can Folio help?
A. Folio specializes in custom and/or large procurement studies. Our experienced procurement team will work with you to design your project strategy and oversee tissue collection from start to finish. Folio's wide network of clinical partners can accommodate requests such as: biofluids (blood, urine, saliva, CSF, PBMC isolation), fresh tissue in custom media, matched pairs (frozen/FFPE, tumor/NAT), and multi-phase or longitudinal collections.
Q. How do I place my order?
A. We encourage you to speak with a procurement specialist about your request. Please call us at (614) 846-2809 or send an email to email@example.com.
You can also submit your institution's Purchase Order via email, or fax to (877) 633-6442
Q. Where is my order?
A. We will e-mail a Federal Express tracking number to you when your order is shipped. You can track the progress of your shipped package at FedEx.com.
Q. How is the product shipped?
A. We work with our clients to ship their specimen to the standard and quality they desire.
Frozen: Generally, we only ship frozen specimen Monday through Wednesday. All frozen shipments are insured and shipped on dry ice.
FFPE & TMA: FFPE specimen and TMA’s are packaged in slide cases and clam shells for protection.
Q. Can you ship on Fridays or the Weekend?
A. It is possible, but we prefer not to. We evaluate the risk with the client on a case by case basis.
Q. Can you collect material and ship it so we receive it the same day?
A. This may be possible in limited circumstances. When “fresh” collections are procured, it is more realistic to ship the tissue in under 24 hours of excision (i.e. afternoon procedure, next day morning delivery).
Q. Can you ship to Canada or Internationally?
A. Yes. We work with our clients to produce the appropriate documentation for insurance and customs.
Q. Can I get tissue sections from the same cases represented on your stock TMA’s?
A. No. Obtaining additional tissue from the donor cases represented on our stock TMA’s is not possible. We suggest you talk with us regarding this need.
Q. Can a custom TMA be created to my specifications?
A. Yes. TMA’s can be customized to order. You can provide the FFPE tissue blocks to be cored or order them from our vast repository.
